BIO: Erik Dalton, Ph.D. obtained his philosophy and clinical psychology degrees from the University of Oklahoma. An influential presentation by Dr. Ida Rolf in 1972 launched a passionate mind-body adventure which lead Dalton through a maze of educational institutions including the Menninger Foundation, Mueller College of Holistic Studies, Michigan State College of Osteopathic Medicine, and the Rolf® Institute of Structural Integration. In 1989, a devistating neck injury motivated a self-healing inquiry into the neurologic relationship between muscles and joints...spinal biomechanical therapy. For the next ten years he interned with leading manipulative osteopaths. This prompted the integration of osteopathic principles into his Structural Integration practice. This planted the seeds for his Myoskeletal Alignment Techniques®.
Erik Dalton serves as Executive Director of the Freedom From Pain Institute® which is commited to the research and treatment of chronic pain conditions. People often ask Erik about the difference between Home Study to going to an actual hands-on workshop?" Both are very beneficial learning tools and both have a place in manual therapy education. Both are available from The Freedom from Pain Institute. Home Study is convenient. Techniques can be studied over and over. The material is always there to refer to.
However, he believes that a bodyworker needs to be in a hands-on environment at least part of the time to learn from others, ask questions, interact with the teacher and assistants, see and experience the techniques first-hand and up close. Thousands of manual, sports, medical and physical therapists have attended Dalton's Myoskeletal Alignment CE workshops over the years and there is always overwhelmingly positive feedback from their experience.
"I sincerely enjoyed your class for many reasons. 1) The material offered was something that I can actually use in my massage therapy business. Practical and effective techniques. 2) Every single person on the Freedom from Pain staff involved in this workshop was very educated and experienced with the material that was presented in the class. 3) Erik is highly educated and immersed in what he teaches. He has a sense of humor and never looks at his students as stupid, regardless of what they ask. Thank you for an exceptional bodywork seminar. You and your staff are most enjoyable and I will recommend your class to others."… Lisa Marie Simmons, FL

"I have attended over 30 other CE classes. They were all only treatment. Dr. Dalton's class goes way beyond that. He is knowledgeable and obviously experienced and passionate about teaching bodywork. There was an exceptional balance of life experience, knowledge, theory, and hands-on visual presentation. Thank you!" …. Sheryl Correll, WA
"I have studied Dr. Dalton and his powerful bodywork techniques for many years through his excellent DVDs, but this is the first CE workshop I have been able to attend in person. I absolutely loved it. Looking forward to more. Thank you for bringing it close!”… Sue Whitke, WA
"Dear Erik, Are you coming to Florida any time soon?. Two years ago I attended your certification course in Boca Raton. I learned a great deal more than technique from that course; I also learned unique ways of viewing and understanding the body. My practice has advanced greatly from that experience. I really enjoyed listening to the wealth of your experience. You are one of the few instructors who comes to a workshop with enthusiasm, humility and admiration for those that you learned from - a breath of FRESH air in the bodywork biz. I share often much of what I learned with other therapists and several have gone on to take your course. Keep up the great work! …Jody, FL
