Title:
CranioSomatic®
Foundations I is a 2-day
course in advanced cranial
anatomy and cranial sutural
techniques. It presents details
of cranial anatomy and
physiology, and craniosacral
concepts, providing a strong
foundation for participants to
become proficient in detecting
and treating cranial patterns
and sutural restrictions. The
focus is on the cranial vault,
but structures of the face are
also introduced, with
three-dimensional models
available at every student table
to facilitate understanding. The
introduction to CranioSomatics®
begins the process of relating
restricted cranial sutures and
compensatory patterns of the
craniosacral mechanism to
neuromuscular function /
dysfunction.
A variety of cranial release
techniques are presented, with
ample table-time for practice.
Techniques from Applied
Kinesiology (muscle testing,
therapy localization, and
challenge) are also taught, with
applications to identify
dysfunctions and verify
corrections. The course
concludes with ways participants
can incorporate the cranial
releases, evaluation techniques
and CranioSomatic® concepts into
their clinical practice.

Title: CranioSomatic® Foundations – II This second
workshop (CSF - II) continues to
build on the knowledge and
skills acquired in CSF - I. This
course presents the
sphenobasilar (SBS) compensation
patterns and a number of
additional treatment techniques.
It also provides additional
depth in cranial anatomy and
more CranioSomatic®
relationships, including allied
treatment procedures for somatic
dysfunctions. By the end of this
workshop, participants will have
the knowledge to effectively
treat many CranioSomatic®
dysfunctions, including the 10
sphenobasilar (SBS) compensation
patterns, more complex sutural
restrictions, and some joint
dysfunctions of the extremities.
Level 2. Almost all of us seem to develop a particular group of ‘gait facilitation’ repetitive patterns as we begin to crawl and walk. These include movements of the shoulders, hips and back, encompassing the spine and torso. The Level 2 techniques provide relief for pain and muscle tension throughout the body. Chronic shoulder and neck problems can be resolved when the shoulder patterns are released, and many back pain problems respond favorably to the hip and spine / torso techniques. Numerous patterns of inhibited muscle function are resolved when Level 2 therapy is completed, so patients can resume more activities comfortably – whether simply activities of work and daily living or their favorite active sports.

Title:
CranioStructural®
Integration I is a 2 day
workshop that presents a fresh
perspective on compensatory
patterns, and cranial techniques
to release chronic distortions
in cranial and somatic tissues.
This course establishes the
theoretical framework, based on
CranioSomatic® concepts, within
which both the cranial and
somatic components of Primary
Compensatory Patterns can be
analyzed. The effects of sutural
restrictions and SBS strain
patterns on somatic posture and
neuromuscular function – and the
converse – are demonstrated.
Manual muscle testing, therapy
localization, and challenge
techniques from applied
kinesiology are reviewed (they
are taught in the prerequisite
CranioSomatic® Foundations
courses), and students learn to
use them to correlate cranio/somatic
relationships and to evaluate
the cranial and somatic
components of Primary
Compensatory Patterns.
Workshop participants learn how
to identify Primary Compensatory
Patterns through hands-on
evaluation procedures. The CSI
cranial techniques to release
the Primary Compensatory
Patterns are presented, with
ample table time for practice.
Students learn to identify each
pattern, apply the appropriate
treatment technique, and confirm
that the pattern has been
released. The course concludes
with a section on integrating
the CSI evaluation procedures
and cranial techniques into
existing clinical practice.

Title: CranioStructura®l Integration- 2. (Continuation of Pre-requisite course, CranioStructural Integration – I ) The CSI - 2 workshop is a continuation of CSI -1: it presents procedures for identifying and releasing the remaining Primary patterns. The course also presents procedures for identifying and evaluating environmental factors that perpetuate dysfunctions of the postural and neuromuscular systems, and methods to correct or alleviate such factors. The course concludes with a section on integrating the CSI evaluation procedures and cranial techniques into existing clinical practice.

Title:
Facilitated Pathways
Intervention I is a
2-day workshop which presents
the first level of this
innovative soft-tissue manual
therapy. FPI therapy is
effective in resolving focal and
diffuse musculoskeletal pain
throughout the body, whether the
etiology is repetitive motion,
trauma, or chronic pain from
other causes. Students are
introduced to CranioSomatic®
concepts, and how superficial
tissues innervated by cranial
nerves relate to areas of
neuromuscular dysfunction
throughout the body. Students
learn to perform FPI, which is a
manual release of superficial
tissues of the head, neck and
clavicle, utilizing specific
physical myofascial-type
techniques that are gentle, yet
produce effective results
throughout the body.
FPI - Level 1 protocols cover
treatment for ‘universal’
patterns of facilitation: these
are common movements of the
eyes, neck, wrists, and ankles.
Ample hands-on time assures the
opportunity to both give and
receive all components of FPI
Level 1. This protocol releases
tensions in the neck, eyes,
wrists and ankles, and also
provides other systemic
benefits. Some techniques from
Applied Kinesiology are taught
as assessment and evaluation
tools. The course is designed to
provide the skills needed to
begin integrating these new
techniques into clinical
practice immediately after the
workshop.Provider #'s:

George Dallas Hancock,
D.C., Ph.D. candidate
Bio:
Dr. Hancock is a Chiropractic Physician
who specializes in the uniquely effective
cranial techniques that he has developed.
Through years of clinical research and
practice he identified many patterns of
postural / neuromuscular compensation – '
Primary Compensatory Patterns’ (PCP) – that
can be identified in almost all patients. He
has developed a special series of effective,
long-lasting cranial techniques that release
these Primary compensation patterns. These
techniques provide long-term pain relief,
positive changes in musculoskeletal
function, improved performance and better
posture.
Dr. Hancock began studying and utilizing the
cranial techniques of Touch for Health in
1974, while still a chiropractic student. He
has continued his cranial education ever
since, studying the cranial therapies
developed and presented by numerous founders
and practitioners of cranial techniques,
including Drs. DeJarnette, Gehin, Goodheart,
Magoun, Stober, Sutherland, Upledger,
Walther, Walker, and others.
Dr Hancock’s other post-graduate studies
encompass a wide range of topics. These
include Applied Kinesiology, scoliosis
treatment, Mattes Active Isolated
Stretching, acupuncture, dental seminars,
Chirodontics, TMJ therapies, Feldenkrais,
St. John NMT, Positional Release, Postural
Integration, Structural Energetic Therapy,
Touch for Health, Therapeutic Touch,
Orthopedics, and others.
Dr. Hancock is still active part-time in the
cranial / chiropractic practice he began in
Tampa, Florida, in 1976. He also teaches in
the US and internationally through Hancock
CranioSomatic® Institute, continuing his
tradition of sharing knowledge, which he
began with his NICS organization in 1990.
He has authored three workshop manuals to
assist students in mastery of his concepts
and techniques. He has also written
occasional articles for massage
publications. In addition to teaching
workshops Dr. Hancock has been a presenter
at a number of Florida Massage conventions
and other meetings for body-workers and
chiropractors. |

Flo Barber, LMT, Ph.D. Candidate
Bio:
Florence ‘Flo' Barber
specializes in pain relief,
joint mobilization, and
restoration of muscle function.
She is also skilled in working
with children who are delayed in
reaching developmental
milestones or have other
problems. She uses FPI cranial
techniques and gentle joint ROM
therapy to achieve exceptional
results.
Over the last 10 years, Flo has
developed a new and unique
cranial therapy - Facilitated
Pathways InterventionSM (FPI).
The effectiveness of the FPI
techniques with even very
challenging cases inspired Ms.
Barber to pursue her Ph.D.
degree, soon to be completed.
Her research has revealed a new
‘map’ of the head, face and
neck. It presents specific joint
and muscle relationships with
all parts of the somatic body,
from head to toe. The special
FPI cranial techniques are used
in conjunction with the
Homunculus of the External
Cranium (HEC) map to reduce or
eliminate pain, restore movement
in restricted joints and
dysfunctional muscles, and
enable her patients to do their
daily activities more
comfortably.
